Mistaken Prophets?
"In the last days, mockers will come with mockery, saying, Where is the promise of his coming?" Over the last year, we have witnessed significant
failures by the “leaders” of the “Prophetic Movement,” and the last
failure was so spectacular that many “prophets and apostles” found
it necessary to issue public “apologies.”
Unfortunately, this has not stopped
them from repackaging themselves as they continue to “prophesy” in the name of
the Lord.

Has the world witnessed a massive exposure of false prophets, perpetrators of lies, and false predictions? Not according to the movement’s chief apologist, Dr. Michael Brown. Apparently, these men and women are not false prophets, but instead, “mistaken” ones. After all, who is perfect? We all make mistakes. God uses imperfect vessels. These self-designated “apostles and prophets” simply made a “mistake” or two. Of course, if they admit they made false prophecies, they expose themselves as false prophets.
Dr. Brown would have a point if only a few of
them had made one or two “mistakes.” However, not only have all the “prophets
and apostles” been on-board with the 2020 prophecies about the U.S. elections, as
a movement, they have a long and well-documented track record of predictive
failures, and on a variety of issues.
So, does all this mean that Bible prophecy or
the gift of prophecy has failed? Certainly not! Quite the opposite.
The very presence and activities of such
deceivers validate many Bible prophecies. For example, Jesus warned, and
repeatedly so, that “MANY deceivers will come and
deceive MANY” - emphasis on “many.” Many “false
prophets will arise and deceive many.” There will arise “false Christs
and false prophets that will show great signs and wonders to deceive, if
possible, even the elect.”
Thus, if you think “signs and wonders” or contact with “angels” proves the genuineness of a “prophet,” GUESS AGAIN! Paul pronounced that, even if an “angel from heaven” proclaims a different gospel or “another Jesus… let him be accursed!”
Likewise, Paul warned that in “latter times,
some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines
of demons.” Indeed, the closer we come to the end, the more the deceivers will
proliferate - “Evil men and howling impostors will wax worse
and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
And so today, despite their repeated failures,
these self-anointed “apostles and prophets” continue in their sins, “waxing
worse and worse,” even though, of late, “their folly has become
evident to all men.”
The “Prophetic Movement” has brought the faith
of Jesus and the whole Pentecostal experience into disrepute. Of course, the
greatest threat to the church has ALWAYS been from within – Deception,
false teachers, con artists, and false prophets. And the Apostle Peter
confirmed this very thing:
- “And there came also false prophets among the people, as also among you there will be false teachers, who will bring in destructive heresies, the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction, and MANY will follow out their destructive ways, BECAUSE OF WHOM THE WAY OF TRUTH WILL BE MALIGNED.”
Are critics of the church mocking Christians on
social media? Well, we certainly have given them plenty of ammo!
Today's deceivers continue to promise a mega
revival full of fantastical “signs and wonders,” whereas, the Bible warns of a
future “apostasy” and a church invaded by hordes of deceivers,
some of whom will, in fact, perform “signs and wonders,” including the “false
prophet” and the “man of lawlessness.”
Protect yourselves, dear saints. Stick to the
scriptures like super glue. Heed no one whose words or actions are contrary to
the Word of God, Jesus, or to his teachings and example.
