Seizing God's Throne

Satan and the Rulers of this Age exalt themselves and usurp Divine prerogatives in contrast to the true Servant of God, Jesus Christ.

Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled the role of the ‘Suffering Servant’ described in the Book of Isaiah. He did not attempt to seize the “likeness of God” as Adam did or exploit his position as God’s Messiah to exercise power over others. His sovereignty is radically different than the governments of this fallen world. Rather than subjugate his subjects or kill his enemies, Christ endured a shameful death on the Imperial Cross for friend and foe alike in obedience to his Father; therefore, God exalted him above all things.

The Servant's Path

Satan offered Jesus unlimited political power for his Messianic mission if only he would accept the Devil as his overlord.

Institutional Christianity has a long sordid history of mixing Church and State. The temptation to use political power to impose “right” beliefs and sociopolitical agendas is too great even though advancing “Christianity” through the political mechanisms of this world necessitates resorting to the coercive power of the State.

Kingdom Power

True greatness in Christ’s Kingdom is found in self-sacrificial service for others, not in exercising political power over them.

Too many Christians have exchanged the proclamation of the Gospel for the pursuit of one political agenda or another, especially in North America. Rather than calling men and women to repent and believe the same Gospel preached by Jesus and his Apostles, they prefer imposing their views and visions via the corrupt political systems of this fallen age. However, this is not the way of discipleship exemplified in the words and deeds of Jesus.
