The Salvation of the Lord

'Jesus’ means “Yahweh saves.” In the man of Nazareth, the salvation promised by the God of Abraham has arrived.

The child carried by Mary was “begotten of the Holy Spirit,” and Joseph was instructed to name this child ‘Jesus’: “Call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” The name announced by the angel pointed to the saving act of God that was about to unfold in history – (Matthew 1:20-23).

God is Speaking

God continues to speak to His people, but often we look for His voice in the wrong places. Perhaps in the hidden meaning of a Hebrew letter or number, a dream, or the next lunar cycle? The New Testament is explicit. God reveals Himself in Jesus. In him, all God’s “mysteries” are unveiled. We ignore the “word of the Son” at our peril. If we desire to know our “destiny,” we must look to Jesus, the “Author and Finisher of our faith.”
