Le Salut du Seigneur

‘Jésus’ signifie “Yahvé sauve.” Dans l'homme de Nazareth, le salut promis par le Dieu d'Abraham est arrivé.

L'enfant porté par Marie était “engendré du Saint-Esprit”, et Joseph reçut l'instruction de nommer cet enfant ‘Jésus’: “Appelez son nom Jésus, car il sauvera son peuple de ses péchés.” Le nom annoncé par l'ange indiquait l'acte salvateur de Dieu qui était sur le point de se dérouler dans l'histoire – (Matthieu 1:20-23).

The Salvation of the Lord

'Jesus’ means “Yahweh saves.” In the man of Nazareth, the salvation promised by the God of Abraham has arrived.

The child carried by Mary was “begotten of the Holy Spirit,” and Joseph was instructed to name this child ‘Jesus’: “Call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” The name announced by the angel pointed to the saving act of God that was about to unfold in history – (Matthew 1:20-23).
